Back in your inboxes again today to share the pod I recorded with Jake Fein last night. Jake was the one I did the Oscars binge I wrote about in Sunday’s newsletter with and he’s a great Letterboxd follow.
We gave our overall thoughts on the show (solid, very focused on craft but had it’s kooky moments), and chatted about some of the smaller categories we had some personal interest in — Cheers to “I Am Not a Robot” taking home Live Action Short Film.
Then we dove more into the Big 7 awards and the surprises that came with them. All Timothee Chalamet’s loss in Lead Actor last night means is that he can win his first for Dune: Messiah.
10 short films, 7 features, 4 days: Inside my race to Oscars night + predictions
Every year I tell myself I’m going to watch all 10 films nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.
As always, if you have a topic you’d like to chat with me about on the pod, drop me a comment here or via any other form of communication you have with me. Severance and The White Lotus are two likely upcoming newsletter or podcast topics while I work my way through their current seasons, but I’m open to other things — music, books, even other podcasts — too.
Let me know what you Leik!
